Blog Post:: Retoric Appeals

The video "More Beautiful You" is very simple and tells a story. This video only has a couple different scenes. The first one is a father dropping off his wife and daughter at the photo shoot, then it goes to the artist singing with a guitar. Whenever it goes to the artist singing, the background is dark so that you can just focus on him. Then to the photo shoot, and then finally the father comes and pick them back up. This video is not overwhelmed with a lot of things going on. You can easily see what is going on in each scene.

It has several visually hierarchies. The first one that you see in this video is a van that looks like a soccer mom drives it. When I think of vans in movies, commercials, or magazines it makes me like of that happy family that does everything together. Then you see the artist singing with a guitar. He looks peaceful and happy through out the video. The biggest visually hierarchy of this video I think is the next scene where you see a lot of make-up in different boxes and on the counters and cups with brushes. Through out the video it keeps going back to those boxes and cups with brushes. When they focus on the make-up that is the only thing they focus on and then once you see that then in the back round they put the rest of the scene. The video is very bright and well lit up. Then in the last scene it shows the father coming back and picking up his family. They show the wife and daughter hugging and laughing with him. It shows that they are happy and love each other. The video was made so that everything was obvious. You didn't have to guess what thing were. If he wanted you to focus on it, the object would either be at the left side or the center of the screen. There weren't to many element to focus on at on time either.

Lastly this video uses repetition and it is arranged as a story to get his point across. It focuses on the make-up several times through out the video. As well as focusing on the to females getting their make up done. The argument her why is make-up the main focus. Or make-up does help females look prettier and more put together with it.
